Oh boy, where do I even start with this one? "Girl in the Shell" is like if someone took a detective drama, a horror story, and a hentai, threw them into a blender, and hit the "puree" button. The story follows Tokisaka Reiji, a detective who’s apparently so good at his job that he can sniff out turpentine oil on a girl’s uniform (because, you know, that’s a totally normal skill). He gets roped into investigating a series of creepy, severed limbs that keep popping up like some macabre treasure hunt. Oh, and there’s a rumor about a guy with a black egg that contains a limbless girl who may or may not be a corpse. Yeah, it’s as weird as it sounds.

The hentai part? Well, let’s just say Tokisaka’s detective skills aren’t the only thing getting a workout. There’s a steamy scene with Kyouko, a widow who’s clearly been watching too many soap operas, and another with Natsume, a coroner who’s way too into autopsies and, apparently, Tokisaka’s “stiffness.” The sex scenes are… intense, to say the least. Natsume’s enthusiasm for her job (and Tokisaka) is both impressive and slightly terrifying. I mean, who knew a coroner could be so *hands-on*?

On the plus side, the story is bonkers in the best way. It’s got mystery, suspense, and enough weirdness to keep you hooked. The art is decent, and the characters are… memorable, to say the least. On the downside, the plot is so convoluted that you might need a flowchart to keep track of everything. And let’s not even get started on the whole “girl in the shell” thing. Is she a doll? A corpse? A metaphor for existential dread? Who knows! But hey, if you’re into dark, twisted stories with a side of explicit content, this one’s for you. Just don’t think too hard about it—your brain might explode.
