"Aisai Nikki: Episode 1" is like that kid in your class who brings the weirdest show-and-tell, except it's not appropriate for show-and-tell AT ALL. It's about this dude, Keisuke, who's SO WHOLESOME he comes home early from a business trip just to see his wife, Sanae. You'd think he'd get a gold star for that, right? WRONG.
Turns out Keisuke has a serious case of "not good enough" syndrome and thinks Sanae wants to fool around with other dudes. So, like a third-grader with a magnifying glass and an anthill, he decides to "help" by setting her up with his subordinate, Miyakoshi. Yeah, you read that right. He basically plays matchmaker with his OWN WIFE. It's like trading your favorite superhero for a soggy french fry – just doesn't make sense!
Now, Sanae is all like "NO WAY, this is our special place!" but Miyakoshi is pushy, like that kid who hogs the swingset. Keisuke, meanwhile, is peeking through the metaphorical window (maybe a literal one, who knows with this guy), getting all sorts of excited. Talk about mixed signals!
This whole thing is like a game of telephone gone horribly wrong, with themes of jealousy, betrayal, and a super messed up definition of "love." There's even an ironic twist where Sanae seems to enjoy the whole situation WAY more than she should. The setting, mostly their house, becomes a bizarre stage for this emotional trainwreck.
In the end, everyone's, uh, "happy" (I guess?), and they even joke about baby names. It's all very confusing and makes you want to wash your brain with soap. Let's just say this episode gets an F for logic and a big fat "ask your parents" warning label.
